CROSSROADS

For 10, fun-packed days in the summer of 2016, young people from all over Cyprus will engage in applied theatre workshops and a mixture of educational and social activities designed to bring them together in the security of a neutral environment, in order to build trust and help to form lasting friendships, while exploring different ways of dealing with conflict. Based on a variety of applied theatre techniques, the camp workshops will offer exciting alternatives to the traditional learning process taking place in formal educational settings.

Research indicates that cultural components, including theatre, were used since ancient times in an effort to contribute to social and personal change. Through this Summer Camp, this project aims to provide a space for young people in Cyprus to interact, and to allow for the transformative power of theatre to run its course.

The project team has partnered with the NGO TheatrEtc for the organisation and implementation of this activity. To find out more about their work, visit out ‘Partners’ page. With the involvement and collaboration of talented artists, youth practitioners, educators and youth workers, this is set to be an enjoyable and educational experience for the young people involved, who will learn to use theatre as a tool for creative expression and communication, multicultural awareness and coexistence.
